What is FYMS?

FYMS is an abbreviation that stands for Foundation to foster Youths in Madi sub-region. The organization is non-discriminatory, not for profit youths and children focused, whose evolution is also partly informed by Universal Declaration of Human Rights.



Why does FYMS exist?

The concerns of youth mind-sets and behaviours in regard to their key health, illiteracy and rights as well as desired livelihood aspects stimulated the basis for FYMS origin. Over 78% of youths in this area lack meaningful definition for human existence, given the rising poverty level that accounts for illiterate rates.



Where does FYMS operate?

FYMS is Ugandan local NGO that at the moment operates in West Nile sub-region with its volunteer programs in refugees’ settlement areas, given its status. As start-up initiative, FYMS carries-out humanitarian volunteer intervention where youths, children and women issues exist within west-Nile communities.



In which geographical location is Uganda?

As one of the poverty ridden Uganda in East Africa is a vibrant and beautiful developing country with overwhelming tourist potential and reliable security. Central region-based advocacy situations that arise giving concern within the central are mostly youth based due to unemployment and illiteracy, which occurs in any part of the world. FYMS considers its volunteer’s top priority and an-unforeseen situation that warrants volunteer withdrawal shall be handled with utmost humanity approach that leaves room/space for open communication and brother/sisterhood.



Which group of persons are beneficiaries for FYMS?

‘’Youth and children voices are at center stage.’’ FYMS solutions uplift young people in critical feedback driven response to what we achieve. Youth and children actively participate in the design, advocacy and delivery of right based programs, learning experiences with peer mentors drawn from experienced local and foreign volunteers.



How does FYMS view gender equity?

The strong commitment to a gender-transformative approach, recognizing that skilled, knowledgeable or empowered and educated girls create more sustainable, justifiable, peaceful and healthier societies.



Who does FYMS consider to get involved in its youth activities?

FYMS works with “all interested persons referred to as stakeholders irrespective of their geographical background, religion, academic level etc: including refugees, persons with disability, positive living, local-governments and humanitarian partners’’ in achieving mission and vision.
